Savanna Views

A savanna is the area of transition from forest to prairie lands.  For example the Burr Oaks are much more prominent in the savanna.  The thinner tree canopy permits more sunlight to strike the ground which in turn allows some different species to flourish than in either forests or prairies.  Below are views of the savanna lands at Wolf Road Prairie just north of 31st Street, west of Wolf Road.

Please allow the slide show to load.  It will advance and loop automatically when the load is complete.

For views of the savanna-prairie edge please see What the early settlers may have seen.
